For this year 2016 I decided to try (yes I said try) to start again to write English translations of my articles 🙂 It will be tough, but I will try to come up with some English article each two weeks! It will be good for me to practice my English writing like this, and in this way I will maybe expand my English speaker followers 😉
So, let’s start with some music! Aaaah music! One of my biggest passion and inspiration
Usually, If I throw myself in the writing process of a new musical article about a band or an album I will never stop to write :p That’s why I decided to try to write small musical articles according the same pattern. Anyway, I would like to be quickest, in the same time providing interesting information and of course with a good criticism, those are my goals 🙂

Pour cette semaine je voulais vous parler d’un groupe qui ne va pas vous rajeunir, Ugly Kid Joe.

Un coup de cœur que j’ai eu il y a déjà pas mal d’années, et je ne me lasse vraiment pas de leur style si inimitable, et par-dessus tout, de la voix de leur chanteur William Whitfield « Whit » Crane IV (un nom qui impressionne non ? 😉 ).
Voyez par vous-même avec le titre Neighbor tiré du premier album America’s Least Wanted sorti en 1992.

Bow down before The Pale Emperor!

It’s been awhile seen I shared with you a « Weekly music video », but I am going to fix this mistake! 😉
So here is a small video clip for this week with nothing less than the comeback of Sir Marilyn Manson himself!

Yes, indeed he is back and for our great pleasure! With albums « The Golden Age of Grotesque » and « Eat me, drink me » relatively underwhelming with only few songs getting out of the batch, he managed to put his head out of the water with « The high end of low ». « Born villain » in 2012 marked clearly his resurrection to finally three years later lead to « The Pale Emperor », an album beyond reproach, without mistake and reminding me the great era of the trilogy « Antichrist superstar », « Mechanical animals » and « Holy wood ».
This new LP is rock, melancholic, sick, sad, in summary a pearl 😉 We don’t know where to look with all those amazing tracks like « Killing Strangers », « Depp six », « Third day of a seven day binge », « Worship my wreck » (one of my favorite 🙂 ) or even « Slaves only dreams to be king ».
Enjoy the excellent song « Deep six »! (Weird video clip don’t you think? 😉 )

Letlive, THE band that everyone need to listen ! The SNOT legacy !

This week, we are going to welcome a new “album review” post, and not least!
Let’s talk about the last album of LETLIVE!!!!!! The master piece The Blackest Beautiful!

But, first of all, let’s talk about their history.
Letlive appeared in 2002 in Los Angeles and brings to life a first EP in 2003 “Exhaustion, Saltwater, and Everything in Between”, interesting first shoot but really difficult to handle. They offer a sound ranging from a post-hardore style to an alternative metal, with also hardcore punk and experimental rock influence. (like Deftones, Slayer, or Refused)

It’s after a line-up change, especially with the arrival of Jason Aalon Alexander Butler for the vocalist place, that everything starting to move in the right way.
The released a first album “Speak Like You Talk” in 2005, a really impressive work. Still with a lot of things that need to be change, but it’s an interesting draft of what they are capable of.
The real strike is made with the second album « Fake History » in 2009. It’s a step, an incredible evolution relative to the first album. Still a little messy and too aggressive sometimes, it’s however an unbelievable gap. So many songs that I’m crazy about in this album, like “The Sick, Sick, 6.8 billion”, “Renegade 86”, “Enemies[Enemigos]”, “Muther” (the most handful of the album with “Lemon Party”), “Homeless Jazz”, “Day 54”. To be clearer, it’s among album I listen really often.

Moreover, this second delivery allow them to touring intensively, even in Europe. A funny story is that they were signed to Epitaph thanks to the leader of Bring Me The Horizon (Oliver Sykes) who contact the label after watching them perform at a single concert in 2008. Letlive can make incredible songs, but they are unbelievable on stage (unfortunately I didn’t seen them, but it’s on my musical dream list 😉 ).They are pretty famous about their scenic performance, so intense and crazy. Apparently Jason often destroy the equipment, often injuring himself :p
You can see clearly in the video clip below (Casino Colombus) that this man (Jason) is totally insane… I love this!

Finally, after touring a lot in USA, European, Australia, they delivered a third album, “The Blackest Beautiful”, on July 9 2013 and get general positive critical reception. And what an awesome album they give to us.
I heard about this band in a magazine (rockmag I think). It was the album of the month. Then, I don’t know why, but I order the album on Amazon without trying to listen even one song. When I push the play button on my Stereo, it was a revelation.

Honestly, I have bought this album on august 2013, and since then I listen it at least between five and ten times each month, even more. If I had to characterize their last production, great, touching, amazing, violent, melodic, sad, fast, brutal, mesmerizing… If you start to listen this band and especially their last album, it will not be possible for you to live without then 😉

This TBB album is full of master pieces, “Banshee (Ghost Fame)”, “White America’s Beautiful Black Market”, “Dreamer’s Disease”, “That Fear Fever”, “Virgin Dirt” (Favorite), “Younger”, “Pheromone Cvlt”(Favorite), “27 Club”, I could mention all the album :p

The music is really inhabited. Mixing soft and brutal parts with the perfect accuracy. But the most important part is Jason. You know, there is so much violence, sadness, and despair in his voice. It gives me chills when I heard him. The voice is the most precious piece of a band, and they find a gold voice with the emotion we can fill through the vocal delivery of Jason. Furthermore, with lyrics topics about infidelity, culture, greed and corruption among other things, this band can reach the heart of everyone.

For me, they are the Legacy of SNOT. The same mix of influences, of sounds, of emotions. SNOT is a band dead to young, so I wish a very long life to Letlive, because they deserve it!
You have to listen them, and it take time, but at the end, you will be crazy about this band!

I give them a 19/20, yes really, so close to the perfect album… but the perfection doesn’t exist, isn’t she? 😉

« Weekly music video » post with the band Hurt and both songs Rapture and House Carpenter

Here we go again!!!
It’s already the end of the week so let’s go for another « weekly music video » post!

The choice is really significant. The goal of those kinds of post is to introduce you a band that I like to listen, allowing me to feel something special, and preferably realized a video which worth the shoot.

This time, we are going to see a video clip from the band Hurt. Pretty much unknown, whether in Europe or in United-States.
It was created in 2000, but it’s only in 2006 that I heard about them for the first time. It was thanks to an advertising mail from a label that I forgot the name.
It was very brief « a new band, their first album is going to be available soon, here you can see the first video clip ». The song was Rapture and was the first single from their first album named Vol.1.
I was so surprised and impressed, firstly by the style. This band had a Grunge sound that I didn’t heard for a while. There was a sadness, and a violent almost tangible and mixed together in the J. Loren Wince voice (lead singer, singer, guitarist and violinist in the band. Yes, you read well, there is violin, not just to seem trendy).
The second point which stricken me from this video clip was the design. No band members on the screen, everything was an animation short movie like if everything was in paper, but with style and poetry.
Unfortunately, I didn’t managed to find this famous video on Youtube.
So, that’s why I have chosen another song of their debut album, House Carpenter. Just as skinned alive as Rapture song, and with the same kind of design. Really beautiful song and video clip.
I advise you to wait well the end of the clip, even after the black screen.

This band as a huge potential, unluckily, like fore a lot of gifted bands, they don’t managed to reach the notoriety they deserve, and they stay in the shadow. Only a few of people know them, despite already six albums, they did not managed to find the light, but they really deserved it believe me!
(Even if they never succeed to achieve the level of the first album with the five others)

So, if you like the song, the sound, the spirit of their lyrics, don’t hesitate and buy their amazing albums! They truly worth it 😉

My first English article, « Weekly music video » with Black Light Burns

So, let’s start with English articles!
And what could be better for a beginning than a “weekly music video”;)

The choice has not be so easy, I listen so many band, with a lot of different style. Listening more than a hundreds of band and singer does not ease my way to choose. The decision was complicated but I managed to find the good candidate.
However, don’t be too sad are angry again me, there will be more weeks (I hope :p), so I will have a lot of possibilities to published a lot of different band video clip. There will be something for ears of everyone 😉

This week (drumroll), I have chosen Black light Burns!!!!
Yeah, Mr. Wes Borland’s band!

This band was a real personal revelation, an amazing discover (on Jonathan Davis’s Myspace, yes, you read well, Korn’s singer). After a first incredible album “Cruel melody”, a CD/DVD album of face B and covers, and a concept album “Lotus Island” (realized like an original soundtrack of a movie that does not exit lol but a really good album anyway), they came back with a second delivery named « The moment you realize you’re going to fall », and It was a fucking blast my friends!!!
This second dose is far beyond the first album. I could speak hours about this band that’s why I will publish a full article about this tremendous band and his outstanding front man Wes Borland! (I really don’t know when I will publish this article… one day :p)

In brief, for this article we are going to focus on the first era of this band, i.e., the first album « Cruel Melody » (an upcoming « weekly music video » will deal with the second era, the album “The moment you realize you’re going to fall”).

On of a most amazing song of the first album is « Lie », with a Nine inch nails’s influence (Danny Lohner signature…), this song is especially dark, offer a really good tempo, with a crazy mesmerizing sound that obliged you to headbang and sing in the same time!
That’s why I have chosen this one for a first “weekly music video”!

An explosive song, whose I will never get bored!

15 years and it looks like it was yesterday, RIP James Lynn Strait, RIP Dobbs

Yesterday was an important anniversary, James Lynn Strait the famous singer of the emblematic band SNOT died in a car accident on December 11 1998 at the age of 30 with his dog Dobbs (the group’s mascot that you can see on their only one album « get some »). He is gone 15 years ago and it still in the heart of everyone who was touched by his music and his voice. SNOT was one of the most important band in my life, and it will remind me so many good souvenirs. It will stay one of my favorite band forever. We miss you Lynn !

RIP James Lynn Strait and RIP Dobbs !

I recommend to everyone to go listening the album « get some » and the tribute album « Strait up » with many guests and the only one song he has recorded for the second album , before the car accident, « Absent » which is beautiful !

Nine Inch Nails live show from the Tension tour 2013, what could I say excepte it’s recommend by every doctor for a good musical health ;)

Everytime I listen Nine Inch Nails and the voice of Trent Reznor I have goosebumps, I’m really a big fan of this band, and I could say that it’s one of my favorite band !
This show is really amazing, with an incredible production (crazy light effects) and we can find all songs we know with some new like copy of A in introduction (great moment), march of the pigs, piggy, all time low, disapointed, come back haunted, sanctified (an old one really cool and rearranged), in two, the big come down, the hand that feeds one of my favorite, head like a hole, hurt…

I hope I could see them again one day !
Love this band and all there songs ! Long life to them 🙂
